Christmas 2011- Santa Debate...

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and that is when we will be opening gifts as a family. On Christmas day we will go to Jeff's parents' home and will spend time with them and then we will be going to church. So we thought we'd stay in on Christmas Eve, open gifts, have our turkey, etc.

The kids are all tucked in bed and are very excited for tomorrow! They are also excited for Santa to come. Jeff and I did tell the kids there was a Santa but we are really trying to get the emphasis off Santa and gifts and onto the real meaning of Christmas- the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Santa brings them a stocking with a few little things inside and this year they got a book from "Santa". But that is all. And we have told the kids Santa gave them the gift of a stocking to remind them that Jesus is the greatest gift. Jeff and I know a lot of people might not agree with us telling the kids there is a Santa but we will take it year by year and decide as we go. But this year the kids left Santa cookies and a note, carrots for the reindeer, and I got a picture of them tossing a bunch of oats on the front step. ;) On Sunday Baby Jesus will appear in the Nativity set (He hasn't been born yet) and Mary and Joseph will stop their travel to Bethlehem (the kids have been finding them hidden around the house each morning) and they are excited for that too. And they are very excited to bake Jesus' birthday cake. :) The emphasis can't be just on Santa because that isn't what Christmas is about. But the kids are small and we feel it's OK for them to think there's a Santa right now and to get excited about it. Jeff started teaching them about Saint Nicholas and as they get older they will understand more. So we hope we don't get judged for the whole Santa thing and the pictures that follow. ;)

When Jeff and I heard him reading so well we were shocked- Caden has been doing so well with his reading. He is now picking up adult books and reading them on his own.

Wow- I can't believe it has been so long since I have updated this blog! I was just looking back at old pictures and I can't believe my sweet Cayleigh will be 3 on Monday. Where has the time gone? :( She is turning into such a beautiful little girl with a gentle spirit and a bubbling personality. She LOVES little animals, coloring, drawing, and anything girlie. Yesterday she told me she wants to take dance lessons and swimming lessons. She loves putting on her ballerina dress and dancing for Jeff and I. She is precious to us. We are throwing her a Dora party on Saturday and it looks like a big crowd will be coming. :) She has never had a big party before and is very excited. Hopefully I will get the chance to post pictures but facebook is a lot easier and faster for me these days.

Our little Liana is not so little anymore either. :( She is stringing short sentences together and we love hearing "Hi Daddy! Hi Mommy!" She does NOT want Mommy to have a baby and tells me so every day. She loves her brother and sister and it is so cute when she calls them by name. A few days ago I saw Cayleigh and Liana sitting side by side in their little pink princess chairs holding hands. Liana does whatever her sister does. :S She is SO dark like her Grandma and is turning into a beauty as well. Her hair is curling up all over and her big eyes melt our hearts, especially Daddy's. When Jeff got home today he got a big "Hi Daddy!" and a huge hug and kiss. Of course it was into his legs because he is so big and she is so little! But it was precious nonetheless. :)

Caden is 5 now. :( He is such a sweet little boy and continues to be an easy-going little guy. He is obsessed with airplanes and ferries at the moment and still talks ALL the time. ;) He can read very very well. He is bursting through grade 1 readers already. He is a lot like his Dad. :) Jeff has been building a ferry with him and Caden LOVES being his Daddy's helper. Jeff is going to make little houses for Cayleigh's animals next. He is a great Dad. :)

I am just over 24 weeks with Baby #4 and all is going well at the moment. :) January will be here before we know it and we really want to cherish each moment. Children really are a gift from the Lord and they grow so so fast. We hope we can keep up with 4! But we are very thankful. :)

I posted a picture of Cayleigh at the top- it was the one I put on her party invitation. Then there is Liana now and as a baby, Cayleigh now and as a baby and Caden now and as a baby. I remember it like it was yesterday. Time really does fly.

We got this book at the library- a level 2 reader- and I thought I would see if Caden could read it to Cayleigh. He could- he is doing so well with his reading. Proud of our little man. :) He will be 5 in September.

We were in Cochrane pretty much all day and the kids had so much fun! Their friends Henry, George and Lilli were there for our run this morning (we went twice!) so that made it all the more fun. :) When I saw that the play place had huge slides I didn't think Caden would do it because he is usually too afraid. But today he showed no fear and wanted Daddy to see how brave he was! :) Cayleigh isn't scared of anything... ;)

The kids were so good today. We had supper at Frank and Louise's house and after supper Caden said thank you to them. Cayleigh went to Louise next and said, "Thank you for having me!". And then little Liana toddled over to Louise, looked her straight in the eyes and said, "Thanks!". Louise and I melted! Liana nuzzled her and blew her kisses. That was a proud Mommy moment. Just because they are small doesn't mean they don't watch and understand. It was so sweet!

And I had to throw in a cute little video of sweet Liana for Daddy. She has learned to nod yes and no. ;) I really cannot thank God enough for my precious family. They are a gift from Him and I thank Him for them. Love you and miss you, Jeff. Praying for you. :)

Exciting News :)

Well, Jeff is in Russia and we are all missing him. He is there teaching a course to pastors. When he gets back he will primarily be working for the church as an Executive Pastor and will no longer be at the Salvation Army. He is very excited to finally be able to have church work as his primary work. Every time Cayleigh finds or hears something exciting she runs upstairs and says, "I gonna show Daddy!". She really misses him and wants him to come home. :( Caden is being the man of the house- he likes to pray for our meals and helps look after his sisters and helps Mommy with the garbage. Yesterday Cayleigh hurt herself and when we were at the clinic Caden took good care of her and was such a good boy. Little Liana is too busy walking everywhere and getting into everything to miss Daddy too much, but she talks to him on her toy phone a few times a day. :)

We have been busy visiting with family and friends and that helps too. I took a few quick pics today of the kids with their good friends- they are so cute! Caden and Henry are around the same age as are Cayleigh, Catie and George. And then Liana, Isaac, Evangeline and cousin Ariana are all around the same age too. Lots of fun. :) I also posted a few pics of the kids having fun finger painting. :S The one of the flowers/weeds (haha) in the glass is priceless- Caden picked 6 of them and when I asked him why he said, "Because there are going to be 6 of us". So sweet! And I guess that leads to our news...

We are expecting baby #4 in January. :) It is very early so I am just posting it for those who check the blog. I won't put it on facebook yet. We are very excited. Caden will be just a few months past 5, Cayleigh will be just past 3, and little Liana will be 21 months. We are excited they will be close in age. :) It looks like I have a midwife too so we are excited about that. :) We are going to keep the sex a surprise. We pray all will go well and baby will grow healthy and strong. We thank God for His many blessings. :)

Liana is doing quite well with her walking. Travelling to NB slowed her down a bit but she can go quite a distance, especially if she is walking towards something she wants. ;) She can probably go about 8 feet or so right now. Big girl! ;)

Oh poor sweet Cayleigh. :( This is how I found her during nap time this afternoon. I put the baby monitor right by her potty and she always calls me to tell me when she's gone. Today she didn't or maybe she did but I didn't hear her. I felt terrible! She got lots of cuddles and a Dora movie. Even though I felt terrible I still had to get a video... ;)

Liana LOVES cats so we decorated the house with cats for her birthday. :) Here is a little clip of her first thing in the morning when she spotted all the cats. I don't have time to upload a bunch of pictures but you can check them out on facebook.

She also LOVES ducks so I made a rubber duckie cake and she loved that too. :) She had on rabbit ears because it was an animal party. ;)

Oh Cayleigh. :S For the past 2 days she has refused to do her business on the potty. She is fine going pee but the other- well... She held it and held it and and I refused to put pants on her until she went. So it was a day filled with may whines but we had success after supper. :) She asked to go potty, did her thing, and as you can see from the next video, was VERY proud!

We are having so much fun with 3 but, as you can tell by the lack of my blog posts, we are SUPER busy! ;) I put Liana in a carrier this evening (she'll be 3 months tomorrow) facing out for a change and for some reason she thought Caden was hilarious. :) Liana LOVES Caden! Caden and Cayleigh love Liana and Jeff and I are so happy they do! Caden is especially helpful and is always talking to her or kissing her. He loves Cayleigh too, and the two of them have become great friends.

Tonight I let them both hold Liana (Liana wasn't thrilled with the idea!). When I took her away from Cayleigh to let Caden have a turn Cayleigh cried! We love our 3 little angels.:)

Our Little Pastor

These videos and the picture were all taken today. First thing this morning I decided to give Caden a big Bible that we don't use. It's a New Living Translation I bought for Jeff way back when we were dating and he doesn't use that translation so I thought I'd give it to Caden. He played with it for about 45 minutes this morning and preached away. So of course I took a video. ;) Then he went downstairs and started to sing "Before the Throne of God Above". He copies everything that is done at church. He'll put the straps outside his pants (the elastic ones that are used to tighten his waste) and will pretend they're microphones, he'll get a calculator or the remote control out and use that to "turn on the screen" like at church, he'll pull out his microphone, and he'll sing away. He even stands on a stool- I'm not sure if our Pastor stands on a riser or not. I guess I'll have to check. ;) He usually rolls up his sleeves when he plays the guitar (an old ukelele Jeff used to have) so he can be just like the guitar player at church who rolls up his sleeves. And most of the day he talks SO loud and when you ask him why he talks loud he'll say, "Because Pastor Clint talks loud". He's a busy boy. After his preaching/singing we went to the zoo and he was so tired he had to take a nap. When Jeff and I checked in on him we found him asleep with his Bible. :)

Potty Gal!

Cayleigh has used the potty a few times and Jeff and I are very proud of our baby girl. :) She's 17 months and she tells us when she's wet or worse (hee hee) so we thought it was time to try and teach her how to use the potty. There are 3 pictures of her on the potty but she never did go on it. She prefers to be up on the toilet like her brother and that is where she's had success. :) We took the first picture right after she went and she was so proud. Jeff asked her to smile for the camera and that's what she did! She is so cute. Today when I had an appointment with my doctor Cayleigh walked over and quietly said, "Mama, poo poo". I asked her if she needed to be changed and she said, "Uh huh" in her sweet little voice. And she was right- she did need a change.

Her vocabulary is expanding daily. Cayleigh LOVES to eat and she can say cookie, fry, eye-keem (icecream), cacker (cracker), bup (cup), milk, juice, apple, nana (banana), snack... and the list goes on. She knows lots of animals- horsie, cow, doggie, kittie, fish, turtle, goat, duck, chickie, bunny, sheep... She can say, "Hi, Mommy!" and "Hi, Daddy!", and she knows "Caden" and "Cayleigh" and "sorry" (she says this a lot after a time-out in her crib when she nearly kills herself on the couch or hits things/people. She can say "baby", "talk", "bye bye", "phone", "car", "truck", "bus", "bike", "choo choo", "boat", "moon", "star", "open", and the list goes on and on. I like to write down what she knows at certain ages so I can keep them in my memory. We love our kids and thank God for them every day. It's a tremendous gift being able to watch them grow and learn.

Smart Little Man

Last night Caden was playing with his little computer. It was asking him to spell words and I just sat there in amazement watching him type out each one. For those of you who know him well, he's ALWAYS asking how to spell words. It's kind of annoying! ;) But now Jeff and I are going to be sure to spell them out for him because he's able to remember them so well. He just turned 3 1/2. I wonder if Jeff could do things like this at his age. I'll have to ask his parents. I know I couldn't. ;)

I posted a picture of Caden and Cayleigh's Dora and Diego room. They love it! We're not going to put Cayleigh's bed together until she learns how to sleep on a mattress, and this won't be until she's closer to 2. We just thought we'd get it done before we are super super busy. ;) Caden looks so comfy in his bed snuggling his dear Abbey. :)

I love the picture of Cayleigh that I took a few days ago. She's almost 17 months. :)

And I put up a picture of me at 36 weeks. I've been getting a lot of false labour already- so much that it's kept me up for 2 nights and is quite uncomfortable. I'm wondering if baby will come a bit early. I hope so! Jeff and I are ready to go and would love to meet baby any day. :)

We don't make Caden nap anymore but today he was so tired after a Mom's group that he wanted a nap. When Cayleigh woke up we went down to wake Caden. Cayleigh loves to go in and wake him up. She'll run to his room, go over to his bed, and try to give him kisses. We have a mattress in Caden's room for Cayleigh to play on because in the next 6 months she'll be sharing a room with him. They love to play around on that mattress. They will have matching beds and we've decided to get Cayleigh a Dora comforter and Caden a Diego one. And we're going to decorate the walls with Dora and Diego. It'll be cute. :)

Once Cayleigh woke up Caden they played for a bit while I got some pictures. They play really well together (although sometimes Caden can be a bit too rough). Cayleigh will chase him around the house with her stroller and they'll giggle- it is so cute!

After their play-time they watched a "Mighty Machines" video (Cayleigh only for a few minutes before heading upstairs to play with her dollies). I love my little ones. :)

Yesterday was the first day no one was throwing up in our house... What an awful bug we all caught. You can see from the pictures that Caden and Cayleigh didn't feel well at all (although Cayleigh did enjoy watching "Elmo Pets" on the portable DVD player). She'd wine "Elmo! Elmo!". Cayleigh still isn't 100% and we're having trouble getting her to settle in bed tonight. I think she's getting 3 more teeth on top of not feeling quite herself. Hopefully she'll be back to normal soon.

Zoo

On Family Day we took the kids to the zoo and, as always, they had a great time there. The pictures aren't the greatest because I only got their backs in most of the shots. But they're still cute! ;) They got to watch some elephants have a bath and they loved it. Most of you know both Caden and Cayleigh LOVE elephants and carry Abbey and Ella (their stuffed elephants) with them everywhere. :)

The day after the zoo Cayleigh was the first to come down with an awful flu that lasted 7 days. We were glad we got out because the week following our zoo trip was definitely a long one...

Sorry it has taken FOREVER for me to post on here. We've been busy getting ready for baby and I get tired out more quickly these days. I'm almost done sorting through all the clothes and washing them, and this weekend we are getting a dresser for Cayleigh and I need to move all her clothes downstairs and put the baby's things in her room. We're going to keep the baby in our room until Cayleigh is ready to go downstairs and share a room with her brother. We're also getting new mattresses for both kids this weekend and we'll put Cayleigh's on the floor in Caden's room so she can get used to it. Caden is excited to have her down with him. :) It'll be nice to be all organized and feel ready- I'm just about 34 weeks so I want to have everything ready by 36 weeks just incase baby comes early.

Jeff and I are taking Bradley classes and are hoping for a natural delivery this time. We'll see what happens...

I posted a picture from my birthday (and one of Jeff goofing off that makes me laugh). It was such a nice day and Jeff made it really special. :) He wrote a poem that I'll post for those of you who don't have facebook. Everyone is doing well. Caden and Cayleigh are getting cuter by the minute. Caden continues to preach and has church services all day long. Jeff gave him a ukelele that he had when he was in grade 4 and that doesn't help matters. I hear, "Then sings my soul!!!" all day long. Caden says he's a pastor. Yesterday he carried in a bag of groceries for me and threw it when we got inside. I said, "Caden, you don't throw groceries!". He said, "I'm sorry, Mommy." I then told him I forgave him and he said, "I forgive you too, Mommy. We're sinners." I couldn't help but laugh. My little man. ;)

Cayleigh is talking more and more and she's starting to assert herself. She thinks she's in charge. A few days ago she walked up to Jeff and smacked him (it only felt like a gentle touch to giant Daddy). She gave him a "how dare you not give me what I want look" and Jeff couldn't help but chuckle at his 20-something pound opponent. She does have a temper but she's generally a happy little girl who's content to do her own thing yet still loves lots of cuddles. I hope this baby is easy like Cayleigh was as a baby.

Well, this post is all over the place but it feels like I'm all over the place these days trying to keep up with day-to-day chores, give attention to the kids, keep them entertained, and get ready for baby. Hopefully by the end of next week things will feel normal for a short while before we're super busy again. But we're thankful and wouldn't have things any other way.

Cayleigh learned how to answer with "No" yesterday. She sounds so cute when she says it! This morning I asked, "Cayleigh, do you want to say bye bye to Daddy?" and she said "No". ;) I know I sound a little crazy in the video asking her the same thing over and over but I wanted to hear her cute "No" as many times as I could on video. :)

Cayleigh can say quite a few words now. She can say "Momma, Dada, hi, bye, kitty, doggie, cup, cookie, cracker, ba ba (bottle), truck, up, no, apple, amen, boot, clock, ball, airp (airplane)" and I'm sure there are a few more that I can't think of at the moment. Our baby girl is growing up. She'll be 16 months on Feb 3rd.

Caden loves to practice reading and he's doing a great job. He messed up on "hat" a bit when I was recording but he got it right the time before. He made the "s" sound but said "hat"... ;) We'll keep practicing and maybe he'll be able to read you all a story soon. Caden is a smart little man and we love him to pieces! :)

Baby Jones #3

This picture was taken at 28 weeks and I will be 29 weeks in a few days. Not much longer... :)

I have been feeling quite well but had a little fall on Monday that has set me back a bit. We all went to our friend Justyne's house for supper and I lost my balance and fell into her condo. Not the entrance I would have planned. :S I turned my ankle and was up all that night with a throbbing foot. Of course I hurt the foot on the only side I can sleep on so I haven't been able to get much rest. Jeff worked from home yesterday so I could stay off my feet for most of the day and today I notice it's getting better but it's still not perfect yet. The bigger I get the more clumsy I seem to get so hopefully this will be my only fall. :S But we all are fine and we are getting more and more excited to meet our new little one. :)

Sorry it has taken me so long to download these pictures. Christmas was a busy time and just now things are starting to get back to normal again. We all had fun seeing little Isaac and December, and of course Caden and December had a blast playing together almost every day. I told Caden we might take the Christmas tree down tonight and he said, "No Mommy. I still want December to come back!". When we put the tree up he knew December would be coming and I guess taking it down makes the fact that she has gone back to California very real to poor Caden. :(

There are some pictures of the kids opening 1 gift on Christmas Eve. Caden got a ladybug constellation nightlight and Cayleigh got a little diaper bag of her very own filled with all sorts of goodies- bottles, cups, diapers, bibs, creams, etc. that she can use with her babies. Both kids were very happy. :)

You can see the wagon that my grandmother and parents got for the kids. They LOVED it. The wheels can come off and it can become a pull sled which is great. You can also see the princess table Cayleigh got from her Auntie Cheryl. That is one of her favourite gifts and she sits and plays at that table every day. :)

Once you see Caden opening up his stocking you can tell when Christmas Day pictures begin. Caden got an airport set, a construction set, hockey sticks, games, puzzles, books, etc. etc. He was all smiles opening his gift from Grandma. :) And he loved everything he got from Aunts, Uncles, other family and friends. You will see more of what Cayleigh loved in the post below. Jeff got me a new wedding band (we both didn't really like the one I had) and I love it. He has and always will be romantic in his own way and I love him. :)

Grammie and Grampie Jones got Cayleigh a dollie that came with a stroller, bouncy seat, playmat, pack 'n play, diaper bag... She LOVED that present and every day she pushes either her dolls or elephant around in the stroller and puts them "night night" in the pack 'n play each night. She is so precious- a baby playing with a little baby. She feeds her dolls a "ba ba" and gives them drinks from little sippy cups that came with her diaper bag. Brad and Kristin got Cayleigh a little doll as well and she loves it too. It's nice that she now likes things other than trucks and trains! :)

Caden got the electric train set he has been wanting from Grammie and Grampie. I love the picture of the Jones boys all playing with the train set. :) Jeff loves it and both he and Caden play together with the train each day. The have since bought a tunnel, bridge and extra tracks for the set and I guess Caden wants to buy a passenger car with his saved up allowance. He loves that train so much! Thanks Grammie and Grampie! :)

The kids got a bath toy from our good friends Kevin and Kendis and that was also one of their favourite gifts. They've already used up all the tablets that color the water so we'll definitely have to find more!

I LOVE the pictures of Cayleigh asleep on the floor with her winter coat on. We went to the mall for a bit on Boxing Day and it must have been a bit much for her. I took her out of the van, took her coat off, changed her and put her to bed without waking her. She was so tired! :) And the one of her cuddling Grammie is just precious. :)

I also LOVE the last 2 pictures of Caden and December. They (for some strange reason) enjoyed being locked in the dog kennel. ;) And the picture I took when we all went bowling is just priceless!

Caden LOVES using his tools and whenever Daddy or Grampie are fixing something Caden has to be in on the action. Here he is helping Jeff put in our new dishwasher. We went to the Zoo tonight and saw all the lights. This is the first time Jeff and I have gone and I had no idea how beautiful it was. There were lights everywhere and there were lots of activities for the kids. My pictures didn't do it justice (partly because the camera died). :( Caden and Cayleigh LOVED it and when we left Caden said he wanted to come back. There were heart lights in one particular spot and so Jeff and I parked the stroller, stood by the lights, and let Caden take a picture. It was so cute- Caden had the camera and Cayleigh was holding the camera case. People would stop and say how cute it was that Caden was taking our picture. The pictures are not the best so I haven't decided whether or not I'll post them. ;) I was glad we went. It's been a fun night. :)

Birthday Party

A few days ago Caden and Cayleigh went to their friend Hannah's birthday. It was a Winnie The Pooh picnic and they had a great time. The kids got up and danced to Winnie The Pooh music and Cayleigh and her little friend George (the kids went to his party recently) were the only 2 who really danced (see the last picture). :) Caden found trucks and trains there and of course loved playing with them! And he got to paint (blow through a straw and make a picture) and play music. The kids never stopped. It was a lot of fun. :)

Mighty Machines!

I am always late with the camera when recording cute moments but I caught some of this one. Caden LOVES his Mighty Machines movies. He has most of them memorized and every day I let him watch 1 DVD. Cayleigh has never been interested in TV but she is interested in her big brother and has to do whatever he's doing. He sings the Mighty Machines theme song in a raspy voice and you can hear Cayleigh at the beginning of the clip doing it too. When I turned the show on she was shaking in excitement- all because a truck was on the screen. Caden loves trucks therefore she loves trucks! She is going to be a little tom boy (with the exception of her love for dance *smiles*), especially if this baby is a boy. We'll see what happens. :)

I am almost 25 weeks so I'm getting closer to the end. :) I feel great other than back problems. Starting January Jeff and I are taking Bradley classes all the way up to delivery so I'm sure that'll be helpful, and hopefully this delivery will be better than in the past. We'll see...

Caden is getting excited for the baby and gives me regular "checkups". He'll pretend to give me ultrasounds and he'll listen for the baby's heartbeat. Cayleigh is not going to like baby one bit but we are working on that. :)

I took the kids out to play today and they had a lot of fun. Caden could stay out forever so when Cayleigh got cold I let him play with his bucket and shovel by the window where I could watch him. Cayleigh loved being pulled in the sled but my brave little man would have nothing to do with it. ;) He was busy playing in the snowbank and "working" as he calls it. He was moving pieces of snow and pulling the sled- a "man's work" as he likes to say. He's my little cutie. And so is Cayleigh. Her hair is wild to start with (curls all up the back) and after I took her hat off it was all the more unmanageable. I put both of them in the bath to warm them up and they're napping now. It's my best friend's birthday today so we're going over to visit her tonight. Caden helped me bake her favourite muffins while Cayleigh had her morning nap, and now all I need to do is wrap a few gifts. And fold laundry and make supper... Busy busy. So I guess I should get off the computer. :)

The chocolate chip muffins I made with Caden a few days ago got the kids super excited at breakfast, so there are a few more cute shots. :)

Jeff and I have both been up since 5:00 this morning- it's just after 7:00 now. Jeff had to go into work for a few hours this morning and my back has been bothering me so I thought I'd get up too. I'm just waiting on the kids. :) They've been sleeping in until 8:00 lately which is great. Cayleigh is a great sleeper at night and will go from 7:00-8:00. And Caden has always been a good sleeper so for that I am thankful. :) I can't always get them to nap at the same time so I still have some work to do before baby gets here or I'll be in serious trouble...

We're taking Caden bowling today as a reward for him graduating from his night pull-ups. Well, we still put them on just incase but he has been consistently dry lately. We told him if he was dry 3 nights in a row we would take him bowling and dry he was! This was about 2 weeks ago but Jeff has been so busy and, with our busy little walker in tow, I can't take Caden on my own. Cayleigh will grab a stranger's hand and take off- she doesn't have a care in the world. When we were in Edmonton she took a little boy's hand and off she went.

Well, I think I might hear Caden awake downstairs (or it's just the wind from this awful storm) so I guess my day might be ready to start. Have a good Saturday! :)

Christmas Time!

Yesterday we put up the tree and the kids LOVED it! When Cayleigh woke up from her nap and saw the tree all lit up she was so excited she was shaking! Of course she tries to pull every ornament off so we'll see how long it looks nice. ;) Every year I hate our Charlie brown tree (I usually think it is homely) but this year I actually like it. Caden likes to fly his airplanes over to the balls on the tree and land them there for some reason. That has to quickly come to an end too. They are both at a sweet age.

I thought all my shopping was done but apparently Abbey needs a gift. Caden said, "Abbey's a sweet girl, Mommy. Where is her present?". :) My little man- so nurturing *smiles*. Abbey might get a pack of Smarties. :)

There is no doubt that Cayleigh adores her big brother and, although Cayleigh annoys Caden tons, he loves her too. :) I love these pictures. Caden looks out for Cayleigh all the time and always has to know where she is. When we were in Edmonton he was very concerned that we were going to lose her, so he took the liberty of watching out for her. They slept in the same room of our hotel and the two of them giggled and giggled for a long time before they finally fell asleep. When Baby comes I don't know if we dare move Cayleigh in with Caden- they'll be up all night! We'll see... :)

We took the kids to Edmonton on the weekend and it was so much fun! Tiring, but fun! ;) Caden and Cayleigh LOVED the sealion show, the aquarium, seeing Uncle Nathan and Auntie Holly, swimming in the pool...

I couldn't resist putting up a picture of Cayleigh with her blankie and elephant the day after we got back. She carries them everywhere, just like her big brother, and I think it is the cutest thing! :)

Fun Ages and Stages!

I think 1 is the absolute cutest age! Cayleigh toddles all around the house with Ella and her blankie and looks so small to be carrying such a huge load! She can say a lot of words now- "MOMMA, DADDA, CUP, UP, AIRP (for airplane), TITTY (for kitty), CHOO CHOO (for train), ELWA (for her elephant, Ella), HOT... and probably a few more that I can't think of at the moment. I can tell her, "Go to Grampie/Grammie, Cayleigh" and she'll go to the right person. I can ask her where the fish is and she'll walk to the tank. I can tell her to go to her chair and she will. She can even get her cup when I ask her to. She is a smart little girl, and she is adorable. She doesn't care where Mommy and Daddy are- she just wants to walk and explore.

Caden's tantrum phase is finished and for that we are extremely thankful! He is napping again too which is wonderful. It seems like we always have a rough patch after a birthday, but then he settles down. His quote of the day is, "Mommy, boys can't have babies but girls can play hockey too!". He is still our little preacher and plays pastor multiple times a day. I can hear him singing as I type! ;)

We are going to Edmonton for the weekend and we are all excited. Jeff has been really busy lately so we're going to have a weekend of fun. :)

I'm not sure why but I always seem to load pictures in the wrong order. ;) I took a picture of Caden helping Jeff take the garbage out. It is so cute- Caden will say, "Mommy, you can't take the garbage out because it is a man's job. Just Daddy and I can take the garbage out." I just love my little man! :) We started giving him an allowance today. He is good at helping and we thought it'd be good to teach him to save early on. He gets $1 a week, and tonight he took a dime out to put in the offering at church tomorrow. :) My little boy is growing up.

There are 2 pictures of my boys in their Flames jerseys. I am updating this blog as my sweet husband sits beside me watching the hockey game that is starting. ;) Caden would be right by his side if he wasn't in bed sleeping.

There is also a picture of Baby Jones #3 at 20 weeks. I feel like my belly just popped out today. I'm sure it will pop out A LOT more! :S

We were all feeling better today and were in serious need of an outing, so we went to the Science Centre. We all still have coughs but Jeff and I felt as though we actually had some energy today. Caden is still not himself but he is improving thankfully. The kids loved the Science Centre! Cayleigh walked and walked all over the place. She doesn't crawl anymore, and yesterday she started running! I hope you like the pictures! :)

Every time we go to the Science Centre we like to make face/handprints in the pin boards they have. And Caden and Cayleigh LOVE watcing Daddy be silly and try everything out. ;) Caden especially loved the tractor, and he stayed in it for a long time. Jeff and I tried lying on a bed of nails which was neat! I love the pictures of Jeff and Caden measuring their brain activity. Caden was "Player 2". Too funny! Of course the kids LOVED playing in the water, and I know Cayleigh would have stayed there ALL day if we had let her. I had to change her because she soaked herself! She is a very smart baby. I would take her away from the water area and she would remember where it was and walk straight back every time. Caden and Cayleigh also liked stepping on the shapes and seeing them light up and play music. The last picture I posted was of Caden painting. He made a flag and painted a "star". I thought it was a very nice star! ;) We had a fun day!

Our poor family has had a very rough week. :( On Sunday morning Caden suddenly came down with an awful flu (he was perfectly fine the night before when we went trick-or-treating). He had a high fever, cough, runny nose, muscle aches and headaches. He's had it pretty rough lately because just the week before he was throwing up. He had a fever for 3 days, it went down for 2 and now it's going back up again. The picture of him in his elephant suit with Jeff and Cayleigh was taken last night. Caden was feeling better and wanted to play in his costume, but you can see Cayleigh wasn't feeling well at all.

Now this morning Caden woke up with a bad cough and his nose is running again. His temp is also going back up. It is 10:30 in the morning and he wanted to go to bed, which is not like him at all. He looks pale and tired. He isn't eating well either and Jeff and I are both amazed that his buckets of Halloween candy are sitting untouched. When I called for health related advice to see if I should bring him to the Dr. they said not to unless his temp is 41 and he is basically listless. So we didn't bring him in, although those symptoms seem quite extreme. We've been housebound since Sunday and I'm hoping to go out and get groceries today because we need them. I hope the kids will be up for it.

Cayleigh started getting pretty sick on Wednesday night. A cough came from nowhere and she sounded like she had croup. I was up all night with her on Wednesday, and thankfully she napped a lot of yesterday away. Her appetite isn't the greatest either which is definitely not like Cayleigh. She is the best eater in our house usually. She's napping now and I snapped a picture of her snuggling Ella, her Abbey. ;) All Wednesday night she wanted to cuddle on my chest and snuggle her blankie and elephant. Cayleigh is better in the day and seems to get the worst of her cough after supper for some reason. She has only had a low-grade fever.

Jeff was starting to feel better but last night he was up a lot with stomach pains and nausea. And he has a bad cough, had a low-grade fever and is super tired and sore. :( He's had to come home from work a little early the past couple of days but he's determined to stick it out today if he can. He didn't even want to take a lunch to work today because even the thought of food bothered him.

I am so thankful that today I am finally starting to feel like a human again. I've been sick since Sunday night and yesterday was the worst, but I do think I am getting better. I just hope it's not like Jeff and Caden where you start to feel better and then it hits you again.

So we are alive but 3 out of 4 are still fighting this awful bug. We pray it passes ASAP and that none of you catch it. :(

Trick or Treat!

Last week my friend, Justyne, came over and carved a pumpkin with Caden. He really liked helping her and I think she did a great job! Today we walked to a market near our house and they were giving candy to the kids and letting them decorate little pumpkins. I took a picture of the one we made. We are artists, eh?!

Poor Jeff hurt his back this morning so I took Caden out to get candy rather than him. Caden would go up to the houses all by himself and ring the doorbell. He told other kids, "I'm an elephant and this is Abbey!". Of course he was an elephant and of course he had to take Abbey with him *smiles*. He said he was the Daddy and Abbey was the baby. ;) I took a picture of Cayleigh snuggling Ella (her elephant) during her nap today. I don't know what it is with our kids and elephants! :)

Cayleigh was a little pumpkin but she wasn't the slightest bit happy to be in that costume. We took her to Auntie Kim and Uncle Mike's house and then Jeff took her home while Caden and I walked back and went to houses along the way. He got so much candy that I don't know what we're going to do with it all. On the walk home Caden said, "I had so much fun, Mommy!". Too cute!

Little Cayleigh didn't look the same when we got home as she had a big goose egg on her head. :( We have candy on a chair by the door to pass out and I guess she was trying to look at it and fell and hit her forehead on the corner of the wall. Jeff felt terrible although there wasn't anything he could have done. Cayleigh walks everywhere now and she falls at times. Poor baby girl. I hope her head looks and feels better in the morning. :(

When we woke up this morning it was snowing so Jeff took the kids outside. Caden LOVED it. Cayleigh had fun too but we had to take her back inside soon after she went out because she doesn't have a snowsuit yet. :( That is on the agenda for today so soon she'll be able to join in with her big brother. :)

In the picture of Jeff and Cayleigh it looks like they have dirty faces but it's just because our camera got wet... ;)

In these pictures I am 16 weeks (in the sweater) and 17 weeks (in the dresses when I couldn't make up my mind what to wear to church on Sunday *smiles*). Now I am 18 weeks. I have an appointment with my doctor on Thursday and in just a few weeks I have my ultrasound where we could find out the sex of the baby although we aren't going to. We didn't know Caden was going to be a boy and it is a little more exciting that way. We're going to keep names a surprise too (that is IF we can agree on any *hee hee*). ;) My hair is super short because I wanted to grow it out from a more even length and it's dark because I'm trying to get it back to my natural colour. I'm still getting used to it. :S

Our Little Walker

Well, I'm back! :) I've been putting lots of pictures on facebook rather than on the blog because it's faster and we've been pretty busy around here. Jeff was ordained on Sunday and we are very thankful for his job at the church and that I can stay home now full-time. He LOVES his work and that is nice to see. :)

Our little Cayleigh took her first steps a few weeks before she turned 1 and just these past few days she's been cruising around the house. It's so cute to watch! Sometimes she would rather crawl because it's faster but more and more I see her walking her cute little walk. Sorry the video is so dark but I took it right before the kids went to bed. Poor Caden is really sick with the flu so he was on the couch watching "Mighty Machines". He hasn't thrown up so far today (which is better than the dozen or so times he was sick yesterday and into the night) but now he has a fever. I pray he gets better soon and that Cayleigh doesn't catch this awful bug. My stomach feels a little queasy today so I'm also praying I don't catch it. Oh the joys of flu season...

Our Little Boy Turns 3 :)

On Caden's birthday I woke him up at 7:00 so he could open a few gifts before Jeff had to go to work. He was excited to find balloons upstairs and played with them for a bit. The he wanted to open Grandma's gift first and he got a duplo set that he loves. As you can tell from the photos, both Caden and Cayleigh thoroughly enjoyed Grandma's gift! Caden keeps it in his room and plays with it several times a day. :)

You can see the picture of our sleepy little man being woken up by Mommy. ;) You can also see a sleepy Cayleigh who had to be in on the action of gift opening. We got Caden a playdough set, stickers, and some trucks. Those gifts were a hit as well. He was a happy boy!

In the post above I showed the picture of the bithday wishes from Caden's little cousin, Kyle, from NB. We actually haven't met him yet but we will in 2 weeks and I can't wait! Caden's Uncle Greg, Auntie Meri, and little Kyle got him a microphone that is the same brand as his lovely drum set... ;) Caden LOVED it. He immediately ran downstais, got his Bible and little xylophone that he thinks is a piano, and had a church service. Thank you, Meredith. :)

You can see Caden and Cayleigh's little friend Catie. She is only a few months older than Cayleigh. Some of Caden's friends came over for a few hours and they were busy to say the least! There are pictures of Henry and Caden and little George and Catie.

Grammie and Grampie Jones came over and they got Caden candy, a big garbage truck and a firetruck that make all sorts of noises. Caden was thrilled! He played with them ALL afternoon, and he even shared with Cayleigh which was impressive. Caden got a phone call from his best friend/cousin, December, who is in California and they had a good little chat. I'm going to add that Caden was in a timeout when he got the call but it was long distance so I made an exception *hee hee*.

So the kids played and played. When Daddy got home Caden opened his last gift from Grammie and Grampie Fairgrieve (AKA Grammie and Grampie Grieve). He got a Thomas train set that hooks on to the tracks he already has and he was so happy. I left that gift until Jeff got home so he could put it together, and Caden played with it until bedtime.

I made a cake that was nowhere near impressive, but it was yummy. You can tell from the pictures that both Caden and Cayleigh enjoyed it. ;)

Of course I took my annual photo of Caden- the shot of him sleeping around the time he was born. He's a special little boy. We were glad he had a special day. :)

The day before Caden's birthday his Auntie Holly, Uncle Nathan and their mischevious dog, Chloe, came to visit. They got Caden a little drum set and he LOVES it. He plays it every day. Thank you, Holly and Nathan, for getting Caden loud annoying gifts *smiles*. Cayleigh is always right in on the action as you can tell. :)

We took Caden bowling and he was so happy his Uncle Nathan could come- Nathan is Caden's hero. ;)

About 2 weeks before Caden's birthday we threw him a party. December was leaving for California in a matter of days and Caden wanted to have a party with her. She is his absolute best friend and he loves her so much. Brad, Kristin, December and little Isaac got Caden a new "Abbey". I had been looking everywhere for a second one because his old Abbey is getting a little scraggly and I'm fearful each new washing will be her last. Caden calls her "The Other Abbey" and she is tucked neatly on his bed with Abbey. He carried both of them around for days but now it is just Abbey. I am so happy that we have "The Other Abbey" just incase!

I have a TON more pictures to post of Caden's 2 other parties, but I will do that tomorrow hopefully.

On Tuesday Kristin, our good friend Justyne and I took the kids to Butterfield Acres. It was a bit chilly but we had a great time! Caden and December LOVED the goats and followed them around while touching their backs. One got away and Caden cried, "Mommy! Can you get my goat? Can you get him, Mommy?!" What do you think of the goat I snapped the individual photo of? Gross! He was smiling for the camera, showing his teeth and batting his ears. Creepy. ;)

So Brad, Kristin, and December leave very soon to go back to California. :( We are all sad about that. Caden is going to miss December terribly. I have never seen 2 children play together as well as December and Caden do. I call them the little tag team. Today Caden went over to play with December and he didn't want to leave. They really do love each other.

But we've started moving stuff down tonight. A BIG thanks to Jim, Brad, and the rest of Jeff's family and many of our friends who worked so hard on this basement. I'm pretty sure it was July 31st when Kim took me, Kristin, and the kids to her parents' farm. It was a lot of fun for all of us. And whenever Caden and December are together they have the best of times. :)

Milk River

Saturday to Monday we camped at Milk River with Jeff's family and it was SO much fun. I was kind of dreading it because the last time we went Caden was about the same age Cayleigh is now and we had a rough time. But this time was nothing like that. Cayleigh did really well and Caden had a GREAT time.

We went on a hike with Grampie and Sadie (the dog) Sunday morning. Caden was a trooper but he got tired out on the way back. Jim (Grampie) carried little Cayleigh up the rocks in her stroller and he put her to sleep. Caden took the picture of me by the rocks all by himself. ;)

There are pictures of the river that are really pretty. We got on air mattresses, boats, etc. and floated down the river. Cayleigh came along too and was really good. Although on Monday morning she wasn't the happiest camper. She got sick in the night and just wanted Mommy during the day. I put her on my raft with me and she fell asleep on me as we floated down the river. Caden was in the boat with Grampie and he actually fell overboard. :S But he had a life jacket on and didn't even shed a tear. All I've been hearing is, "I felled in the water, Mommy. Grampie JUMPED in and brought me out!". :)

The kids slept quite well which was another bonus. They had fun at the beach and Caden LOVED building castles with Daddy. He played and played and didn't tire of it. It was a lot of fun!

Yes, Jeff and I are expecting our third little one. :) I don't want to post it on facebook just yet, but I wanted to announce it here because this is my journal of sorts and also because we specifically invited you and this is an easy way to share the news. :) We're not very far along at all and we are praying that all goes well since I usually do have troubles along the way. We're excited. We've thought I was pregnant for a few weeks now due to nausea and all that fun stuff and it was just confirmed last week. I'll have to have an ultrasound to find out how far along we really are. Lately all we hear is how busy we're going to be and how crazy we are, but that is not what we think at all. We hoped our children could be close in age and they will be.

So that's our news. ;)

Jeff's Birthday!

Yesterday was Jeff's birthday and it was a great day. :) Caden painted pictures for Daddy (Cayleigh insisted on coming out of her crib to be a part of the action), we made a cake and a special supper, and then once the kids were in bed my good friend, Justyne, came over and watched the kids while I took Jeff to see Harry Potter (it was a surprise and he loved it). :)

So in about 2 1/2- 3 weeks our basement should be all done. The flooring is already ordered and we just have to paint and wait on the floors. I'm getting excited for the extra space, and I know the kids will especially love their play area. :)

Almost Finished!

Jeff's dad has been working hard on the basement and now it is looking like the end is near. :) Jim did most of the drywall on is own with help from Jeff, Stephen, and Matt. And Jim, Brad and Jeff primed and painted. We had someone come in and do the taping of the drywall and on Tuesday we are having the floors measured for the carpets. Then probably on Friday the person we have doing the finishing carpentry will be here, and all the doors and trim will be installed, as well and the railing to the stairs and probably a ton of other things I'm forgetting. :) We also have someone coming to tile the bathroom (he is a plumber too so he will finish the work he started in the bathroom and install the toilet, shower fixtures, etc). We are thankful to have friends and family who are helping us get the basement done at a much lower cost. Even our electrician is a friend of ours. We are matching everything to upstairs so it'll really have a finished look when it's all done.

Stampede :)

We LOVE to go to the Stampede. Jeff and I went on our own last Thursday and we took the kids today with Brad and Kristin and their little ones. Jeff had worked all night and hadn't slept a wink but he insisted on going first thing this morning. He said he wanted to do it for the kids- he's a sweetie for sure. We love him. :)

We got rained out in the early afternoon and had to run to the train station in POURING rain, but it was still fun! We saw the Super Dogs (they do all sorts of tricks and put on a great show), dogs that herd sheep in a competition, went on some rides, had some snacks, saw some animals, played games... Jeff is great at shooting things from his army days *smiles* so he plays those games and wins great prizes. He won a dog, a pig, and a great big lion for the kids. Fun fun. :) We went on the log ride together on Thursday and that was great fun too. We hope you like the pictures!

Here are some pictures of Cayleigh with her cousins December and Isaac. Caden was playing with his trains in his room so he wasn't in the pictures. December stopped by for 1 photo and then she was off to play with Caden some more. :) The only cousin they are missing is baby Kyle from New Brunswick. I can't wait to get pictures of Caden and Cayleigh with him!

We all scream for icecream!

On Friday Caden heard music and was thrilled to discover it was the icecream truck. The truck was all the way down the street and Caden ran out and flagged it down. Jeff and I thought it was pretty funny, and so did little Cayleigh. So Caden got his first icecream from an icecream truck. It was $3 and after 1 bite he lost interest. It's still sitting in our freezer. ;)

Yesterday Caden's Auntie Kristin gave him a goldfish. Caden named her Dorothy (after Elmo's fish on "Elmo's World"). :) He loves her. Here is a little dialogue from when Caden first got her:

Caden- "I gonna take care of her, Mommy! Dorothy, you wanna listen to some muse-kick (music)?

Mommy- "Oh no, Caden. She doesn't want to listen to music (the DVD player was right by her tank). It might hurt her ears".

Caden- (looks at the goldfish) "She doesn't have any ears, Mommy. Dorothy, you wanna listen to some muse-kick? I GONNA TAKE CARE OF HER, MOMMY!"

We got a bigger tank for her today and Caden is happy that she is no longer on his dresser but is on his Thomas table so he can see her all the time. He wants me to call everyone and let them know about Dorothy. So far he has told Grammie and Grampie Fairgrieve and Auntie Meri. I took a picture of him on the phone with my Dad. I also took a picture of his fish face! He told everyone at the pet store about her... He is so excited. :) I made sure to get a tank with a cover to protect the poor fish. Caden will stop playing every few minutes to go and check on her. I pray that she lives or we will have a very sad little boy.

Caden still has a special bond with his elephant, Abbey, that he has had since he was just 9 months old. I went in to check on him last night and he said, "Abbey is hungry, Mommy. I need to feed her". He then preceeded to place Abbey's trunk to his chest and nurse her. Jeff quickly put a stop to that! *hee hee*

Cayleigh has the cutest little smile. She looks so sweet in all the pictures so I put them all up even though they are very similar. We took them this morning. :)

Picnic

Today we decided to have a picnic. I love the location of our new place because right outside our front door is a park. It's just a 5 second walk away. It's great for picnics- today I just put our lunch in the microwave and then into a bag, grabbed a blanket, and off we went. It was a very easy picnic (*smiles*), but it was a lot of fun. We all (especially Cayleigh) love to sit in the warm sun. Caden loves to run and play, and I love to watch him. He's napping right now and I'm hoping Cayleigh will soon as well, and then we'll go back out again. We're planning to see December and Isaac today too. We'll see what happens. :)

Jim and Debbie got us a bbq for Christmas (we love it) and Jeff and Caden put it together on Saturday *smiles*. Caden brought out his own little toolbox and everything. It took most of the day, and once I bathed Caden and had him in his pullups (he is completely potty trained during the day but he still has occasional accidents at night) he insisted on wearing his beloved cowboy boots that Grammie got him. He helped us throw away the garbage from the bbq assembly and a few people walking by chuckled when they saw him. ;)

Of course I have another tub shot. Cayleigh can sit on her own now (she has been able to do that for the past few weeks without us worrying of her toppling over) so I bath her and Caden together. She is picking her tummy up when she's on the floor now and, as you can see from the photos, she is going to be crawling soon I'm sure. She is still the cutest little sleeper. I love the photo of her all scrunched up in bed with her little mini skirt on. :)

I tried to take one of me and Cayleigh for my parents. It didn't turn out too well.

Last night Jeff and I decided to pull out Caden's train tracks so he could play, and he had SO much fun. I don't know why we didn't think of it before. Our basement is just weeks from being done (we're painting it now- we are SO excited for it to be finished) so we were waiting until his train table went downstairs before we assembled it. But I'm glad we got it out. He played with it for about an hour straight this morning. He loves it. :)
